Before any content strategy can work, search engines need to be able to find, read and trust your pages. Technical SEO is the plumbing. Nobody admires it, and everything stops when it leaks.
The checklist
Here is what we check on every site before anything else:
- Every important page is indexable and in the sitemap; nothing important is blocked by accident.
- One version of each page: no duplicates across http, https, www and trailing slashes.
- A clear heading structure, one H1 per page, descriptive titles and meta descriptions.
- Fast enough on a phone on a slow connection, which is how many customers will see it.
- Internal links that lead from broad pages to specific ones and back.
Why it matters more now
AI-powered discovery relies on the same signals. A page that is slow, duplicated or buried is unlikely to be read by an assistant either. Getting the foundations right once pays back across every channel.
